Need to Find a Water Source on Your Property?

What to Expect When You Hire a Well Drilling Service

Several rural homes must rely on their own personal water systems in order to receive fresh water for cooking, washing, laundry, drinking etc., due to the fact they are nowhere near a public water system. Which is why they must have a well which is either drilled or dug. Out of the two, drilling is usually the best option.

A well which is drilled uses pipes to be able to tap into underground water. This system will then carry water from underground into a homeowner’s residence. Before any drilling can take place, a drilling service will first study the land to be able to determine where a likely water source will be located.

Once a source has been found, the drilling will start, this normally involves a machine known as a well borer, it will dig deep within the earth with the help of a massive drill bit, which is inside a large pipe. As the bit digs deeper into the ground, debris such as dirt, tree roots, rocks, and water will begin to come out of the pipe. Those working on drilling projects are extremely well trained and will examine the water flow to determine when a safe source is reached, plus how deep they will need to drill.

Once the well drilling service crew has located a good source of water, pipes will then be placed inside the hole. This stops any dirt from falling back in and blocking the water once the drilling is done. A waterproof pump will be used to push the water up and into a residence. At the bottom of this pipe, there will be a screen which prevents dirt from reaching the pipe’s motor. The pump will be attached to smaller pipes that will carry the water to the house.

The pipes from a well will be found underground. They will leave the main well entrance and go to a house. A larger pipe will go up and out of the ground. This is then capped but will have a hinge on it. This cap has a strong seal, which will prevent any airborne contaminants such as snakes, rodents and insects from getting into the water source.
